Required: Genesis Framework, Prose Theme
If you are using the Prose theme, the Design Settings menu allows you to change many design aspects, such as font styles, font size, font colors, link colors, link styles, background colors, and heading levels.
Recommended Settings
Download this Prose Settings file to your computer: genesis-prose-settings-1.0a.dat. Then go to the menu Genesis > Design Settings, scroll to the bottom of the right hand column, and upload/import the Prose file. Make any additional changes to the Design Settings menu that you want, then click Save Changes.
This file makes the following changes from the default design settings:
- Font styles. Changed the Global Styles font to Arial, and the rest to Inherit. This way, if you want to change all of your text to another style, you will only need to change it in the Global Styles panel. The other fonts, when set to Inherit, will “inherit” the font style from the Global Styles panel. If you want to use different font styles for different elements of your design, then you will need to change those font styles manually.
- Font sizes. Changed the default font size to 12px, and line height to 18px. Changed heading level 1 to 28px, heading level 2 to 24px, and heading level 3 to 20px. Changed footer to 11px, breadcrumbs to 12px, post info to 12px, post meta to 12px, and submit buttons to 12px.
- Links. Changed all links to light blue (hex color #0066FF), whether or not you are hovering over it with your mouse. The links will not be underlined by default, but will be underlined when you hover over them with your mouse.
- Border. Changed to light gray (hex color #CCCCCC).
- Footer. Changed to not make the text appear in all capital letters.
- Breadcrumbs, sidebar widget headlines, footer widget headings. Changed to make the bottom border solid.
